Assess behaviour and competencies

Rate each child in your class on the behaviour criteria, and, for classes assessed by competency, on each learning skill, so the ratings appear on their report cards.

Some report cards show how a child behaves, and classes for the youngest children show how they are doing on skills instead of marks. The class teacher gives these ratings.

Assess behaviour

Assess Behavior is for the class teacher.

  1. Click Assess Behavior. Check the academic year at the top right.

  2. Choose the Exam (the ratings belong to the exam, so each exam has its own), then your Class.

Assess Behavior with an exam and a class chosen

  3. A table lists each child, with a column for each behaviour criterion your school uses, for example Discipline, Punctuality, Neatness and Respect for others.

  4. In each cell choose a rating from 1 to 5: Excellent, Very Good, Good, Needs Improvement or Below Expectation. Leave a cell on "—" for no rating.

  5. Click Save Ratings. You see "Behavior ratings saved".

The ratings appear on the child's report card if your school has switched on that section.

Assess competencies

Competency Assessment appears in your menu only if you are the class teacher of a class that is assessed by competency (usually the nursery and pre-primary classes) instead of by marks.

  1. Choose the Exam, then the Class. Only classes that use competency assessment are listed.
  2. A table lists each child, with a column for each skill (learning area) of the class.
  3. Choose a rating for each child and skill. There are four ratings. By default they are Needs support, Developing, Able and Exceeds expectation. Your school can change the words.
  4. Click Save Ratings. You see "Competency ratings saved".
